A story with characters I had grew up with me since 2009.

Four pre-teen friends would get into adventures, often saving their hometown of Breckenridge, midwest USA from things like aliens, cults, zombies, and more using their wits and a chainsaw. Though their trials and tribulations were never acknowledged (in fact, most adults never actually believed anything they did, no matter how much proof they had), they nevertheless carried the burden of saving the day. Now, as adults, they are still figuring their lives out and are saving up enough to pay rent.

The original story in 2009 was called Sunday Morning, about the kids as their younger selves, but the current story mainly reflects on their adult lives.

Breckenridge I imagine is more episodic in nature, so there isn't a particular narrative other than the loose overarching story of the main four characters, Grey, Logan, Mia, and Seth all trying to come to terms with their lives and being able to survive modern day life in their late 20s. Once, these four teens would constantly save their city from random chaotic situations like zombies, aliens, the occasional supervillain, all while dealing with teen drama. Though they weren't heroes by any means and weren't ever in the spotlight, it was clear these three were special in a way, despite not having powers, using only their wits, teamwork, and an occasional chainsaw.

Nowadays, the four have to adapt to normal, quiet adult lives. Seth has been thrust the family law firm business after his estranged father's passing and attempts to claw his way away from it all. Mia's unstable upbringing manifested into her chaotic love life, all while unable to fully commit to what she wants in life. Logan, a stress ball of perfectionism and self-hatred, struggles with feelings of failure after he dropped out of college and works a stable blue collar job. Grey struggles to make a career out of his passion and works a dead-end job while still living with his parents.

This is where I put the story stuff.

Each character will take you to their page. Several pages do not exist yet as this is still a WIP! Check back soon!

Celeste

One of the most dedicated and strongest warriors of the goddess Elysia, Celeste is loyal, kind-hearted, and friendly, though can be quite stubborn and rigid in her morals. Dedicated to a fault, she has no real sense of identity and tends to see things through rose-tinted glasses. She will often have trouble expressing her emotions, letting things bottle up until she can't handle it anymore. One could say she's noble in her quest for justice, others could say she's smug, self-righteous, and a little out of touch.

Lazarus

The man unluckily put into the role of being the catalyst of the apocalypse in a giant monster form. Convinced he was taking the role of the hero, Laz followed Ambrose at a young age. He wishes only for his freedom from his captor, but he often gets in his own way. Slowly learning to unlock his powers in the form of branch-like tendrils. Hates to fight, forced to do it anyway. His tall imposing stature contrasts his gentle, soft spoken anxious demeanor.

Rosella

Mercenary-for-hire, Rosella was intially contracted to take Laz back to the Hearth, but has since joined Celeste's side. Rosella's muddy morals as a criminal clashes with Celeste's own constantly. Owns a bar that her family frequents. Rosella can be quite abrasive, violent, and belligerent, Rosella deep down has a strong heart of gold and is fiercely loyal to those she loves.

Flash

Flash, with his technomancy powers and strange tails, wears his weirdness with pride. Boastful, competitive, and high-energy, his taste in obnoxiously bright clothing matches his personality. Loves to be in the spotlight, but not arrogantly in his head. Tries to play off cool, but he tends to hold grudges and can have a bit of a temper.

Scout

Orphaned at a young age, she's the sort of contingency plan of Ambrose, having strange powers and visions that the Hearth wants to take advtange of. Scout however, is very sly and audacious for a 10 year old stays far enough from the Hearth's reach. She hates everything the Hearth stands for, and stuck to Laz like glue.

Elysia

A cosmic or multi-dimensional being that has served as the Earth's guardian for millenia. Once a mortal that fought the gods and eventually gaining their power thousands of years ago, she has slowly eroded into the person she swore she'd never become. Holed herself away in her pocket dimension to avoid the Earth she'd left behind. Holds a lot of things secret. She created the Guardian Knights in order to fend off Ambrose and keep the status quo.

Ambrose

A multi-dimensional being who has disguised himself as a mortal, running a cult known as the Hearth. His odd gentle charm draws people in, but is ruthless behind the curtain. Plans to take down Elysia and take her place using his influence, his most powerful acolytes known as the Executives, and Lazarus as the ace in the hole. Ambrose himself is calculating, and seemingly devoid of any emotion other than anger. It almost seemed long ago he was a caring father, but is now too absorbed in his own literal scorched earth plot.

Sylvain

Currently runs a business in the name of the Hearth called Golden Sun Industries in the concrete jungle city of Aurora Gate. Previously a Knight for Elysia, much like Celeste's role as a favored Knight. After joining the Hearth, he has his own plans to get rid of both Ambrose and Elysia once and for all. Shares many similarities with Celeste that he has a strong sense of justice, but rigid in his own morals. He's charismatic, hardworking, and flirts with any pretty woman with a pulse, but has a particular affinity for Celeste.

Lyra

Though she'd like to describe herself as playful and fun, Lyra is seen more as childish and exasperating to others around her. Lyra guards the Hearth's main compound with her shadow creatures she's able to conjure. This also means she's stuck there, and never able to leave, making her lonely. She's loud, crass, and a little too intense with her emotions, and most people tend to avoid her. She assumes that people just 'don't understand' her strange interests, and writes off most other people as normies.

A more detailed lore page coming soon. Or not. I have yet to decide how much lore I'm willing to give out anymore. Feel free to ask though!
