Celeste is a feline furry standing at 5'8". Her hair is a vibrant coral pink, and has a slight wave to it, reaching down to her shoulders. She has three chunky bangs that frame her face. Her ears and tail are also the same pink as her hair, as well as her nose, which is small and rounded. Her main fur color is a peachy cream color, including her inner ears. Celeste's eyes are a deep purple, with a four pointed star highlight inside, though this is optional in her design, it's almost always there.
Her Knight outfit consists of a white turtleneck sleeveless dress, with a golden four pointed star on her chest. The trims of her dress are the same gold color. On her midsection is a dark purple plate with gold accents on it, with has a long thin banner that rests on her skirt with the crest of Elysia. She wears purple leggings, with a gold band on her right (our left) thigh with a four-pointed star. Her boots are white, with gold trim around the top and ankle, and dark purple bottoms. She has long elbow-length gloves with matching gold trims along the top of the gloves and the wrists. On the back of her hands are gold four-pointed stars. Her tail has a gold ring on it.
Her fashion sense outside of her knight wear consists of mainly feminine clothing, mostly sticking to blues and purples, with accents of yellow and pink. She often wears skirts and dresses, but never anything too short or revealing other than her legs. She will often accessorize with headwear, bracelets, and necklaces.
Personality
Celeste approaches everyone with the same friendly demeanor, though she tends to bumble through sentences. At first meeting, she appears a bit scatterbrained and ditzy, but she is more intelligent than she leads on, though she wouldn't think so herself. Although she is kind, she can be a bit judgmental--she tends to keep this to herself, though, but she seems to care about her image and worries about others' opinions of her a bit too much. Her self-esteem is poor, though she will lead you to believe she's very confident. This leads her to be more of a people-pleaser, willing to sacrifice more of herself than she should to those she's barely met for the sake of their approval and desire to be liked. Her over friendliness can be seen as pushy.
Celeste's loyalty is one of her admirable traits, and though her faith and trust in others can be considered noble, one could also say she's gullible and easily pushed around, and a little self-righteous. She tends to follow the rules without much thought into it, assuming every else around her knows best, and struggles to make decisions herself for fear of failure. Celeste can be a bit of a workaholic, just to prove she's useful, and her anxiety prevents her from relaxing. She’s high-strung, and can snap when she’s stressed, as she tends to bottle up her emotions. A bit of a "suffer in silence" type, Celeste finds it hard to understand her own feelings since she isn't used to talking about them as much.
As an Angel Knight, she takes her sworn duty seriously, and refuses to let others down, often beating herself up if she makes the smallest mistakes. Her strict moral code is something she finds very important to her, and "being a good person" is something she keeps on the forefront of her mind, to the point where she has a bit of a higher standard to herself and tries to keep others at a high standard as well. She gets a little lost in her own morality and sense of justice, however, as she believes she's doing the right thing no matter what and can be quite stubborn. She doesn't like when her loyalty to Elysia and the Knights themselves is called into question. Though she isn't irritated easily, that is one thing that she often will snap about.
Celeste likes sweets, scrapbooking, arts and crafts, heavy rock and metal music, and watching cartoons. She dislikes pickles, large crowds, parties, and alcohol. One of her dreams besides to be Elysia's top Knight is to be able to travel for leisure and try different foods around the world.
Story
Celeste remembers only waking up one day to Elysia telling her she was dead, but chosen for a higher calling and to protect the world from evil as an Angel Knight. When trying to recall her previous life, she tends to get big headaches, and she chalks up her lack of memory to be her slightly scatterbrained forgetful tendencies. Little does she know Elysia repressed them on purpose, her fleeting short-term memory an unfortunate side effect. Celeste doesn’t ever actually find out about her old memories, and she learns to accept it by the end.
Juliette and Lafayette, Celeste's seniors, had helped train her. Over time she quickly grew to be a strong Knight and it was clear Elysia grew to favor her over the other knights -- she admired Celeste's dedication to get stronger, and more importantly, her complete unwavering obedience. Feeding further into Celeste's desire to be useful and loved, Elysia took it to her advantage -- she soon started sending Celeste on tasks and missions by herself, each one more difficult than the last. However, a nagging thought in Elysia's mind would occur--that Celeste was getting strong, perhaps a little too strong. After her last mission, taking on and capturing an exceptionally strong demon named Antoine Thibodeaux, Celeste
Abilities
Weapon
The Nebula Blade
Celeste's main weapon. A large, two-handed greatsword infused by Elysia's celestial power. While its size is overwhelming, its nearly weightless to Celeste, granting her the ability to use it easily without straining herself. Because it's attuned to Celeste specifically, anyone else that holds it will find themselves struggling to use it as effortlessly as she can. Its wide blade also acts as a makeshift shield. She can summon it from thin air via pocket dimensions, so she doesn’t need to actually carry it or use it unless it’s necessary. She can summon and cast energy from it at long range. Her short range combat with it is limited, though she can swing it fast, it can be a hinderance to her, so she often tries to keep her distance. It's her only weapon she's known and used.
Powers
Her powers given by Elysia are typical super powers like super strength, speed, and agility. She can also harness her energy into her sword to create powerful attacks, or create attacks from her hands themselves. She has multiple forms she gains throughout the story that grant her more power, and become more monstrous as the forms evolve and the story progresses. Her final form is a more incomprehensible creature, sort of biblically angel-inspired with eyes and long ribbons.
Relationships
Lazarus
They grew to be fast friends quickly, becoming very close over time as they work together throughout the story. Celeste is unaware of Laz's one-sided infatuation with her, and she is unsure of her own feelings towards him, mostly due to literally everything else happening stressing her to high hell and back, but she cares for him deeply. She wants to show him the world he was denied for so many years, and wants to spend as much time with him as she can. They both have sheltered upbringings in different ways, so they relate to each other a lot and they are each other’s first person to talk to. They work well together, as Laz tends to lean more to a tactician role and Celeste on the front lines.
However, they often have a rift when mentioning Elysia, since Laz greatly distrusts her. Celeste feels like she can sort of convince him to understand, but it comes off as really pushy and a bit insensitive, and it isn't until later that it comes to a head/ Celeste feels a lot of pressure with Laz, having to protect him and all, and most of their dynamic changes throughout the story.
Elysia
Celeste owes everything to Elysia—after all, it was Elysia who gave her a second chance at life, saved her from an eternity of nothingness. Because of that, Celeste has never dared question any of Elysia’s decisions and requests for her most loyal Knight. It is precisely that do-gooder nature of Celeste that Elysia admires and keeps her close, showering her with attention and validation that Celeste clearly craves. She does not realize Elysia’s true feelings and motivations, nor Elysia's plans on what to do with Celeste and the impending rapture. It isn’t until Celeste keeping Laz alive throughout the story that her loyalty has to be called into question. She does not realize her loyalty and love to Elysia is entirely based on fear--fear of abandonment, divine punishment, and losing self--Celeste's whole identity is wrapped around Elysia herself. Celeste refuses to acknowledge her unhealthy dedication and blindsided admiration for Elysia until it all comes to a head in the later parts of the story, where she has to decide whether to keep her trust in Elysia or to fight against everything she once stood for.
Rosella
The first arc had them as adversaries, as Rosella was hired to take Laz back to the Hearth. She was vitriolic, very vocal of her distaste for Elysia and the Angel Knights, and had a personal vendetta against Celeste as she had captured her adoptive father in a previous mission. It made sense--Elysia and her followers have done nothing but cause misery to Rosella. Once defeated, Rosella took a respect and reluctant liking to Celeste, mainly because Rosella wasn't particularly attached to Ambrose and liked Laz enough not to let him die.
The two couldn't be more different - while Celeste is a lot more gentle, pious, and diplomatic, Rosella is an anti-religious punk that solves problems with fists. Rosella consistently pushes Celeste's buttons, and especially pushes her to question her loyalty to Elysia. Celeste tries to argue the good things about Elysia which often leads these two in heated disagreements. Rosella wants to see Celeste angry, and she does often--very few test Celeste's patience than Rosella, and she revels in it. While they disagree on morals, strategies, and idealisms, they become close friends with a healthy rivalry throughout the story.
Juliette
Juliette is Celeste’s best friend in the Angel Knights. Celeste respects Juliette as her senior, and admires Juliette’s dignified and composed demeanor and ability to keep calm under pressure. Celeste finds Juliette very hard to read, as she can appear standoffish and rigid, but they are very close regardless. Throughout the story, though, Juliette disapproves of Celeste’s decision to keep Laz safe instead of turning him in and it causes a major rift in their friendship, to the point where Juliette questions whether to complete the mission herself or not. It comes to a head during the fourth arc in which Juliette fights Celeste in order to get Laz and turn him in to Elysia.
Lafayette
Celeste’s other best friend in the Angel Knights. Lafayette is a lot more laid back than his sister, and Celeste finds it very easy to talk to him. She admires his calm but playful attitude, as it seems like nothing ever bothers him. He’s rarely stressed, and almost treats his Knightly duties as a fun game, but does a very good job at what he does. In the first arc, he helps Celeste keep Laz safe, as he believes Laz isn’t going to harm anyone, and attempts to guide Juliette away from telling Elysia about it. He offers to help when Laz and Celeste bring up Elysia killing previous knights.
Flash
Flash is a strange guy, Celeste thinks. She often can't get a read on him when he's being playfully mean or straight up teasing, and tends to put up a wall as for others to not get too close. Unlike Rosella, he's a lot more dry with his quips and responses. She enjoys his presence, however, and thinks he's a bona-fide genius. Though at first, she was wary of him since the Midnight Arcade has often been an adversary for the Knights, she knew he was a good guy after all, especially when he was more than happy to help take down Wesley--after all, he was trying to look for his sister. He's offered to teach Celeste how to work with machinery and tech before, but she gets lost very quickly into their lessons.
Sylvain
She meets him during the third arc, and at first, she finds him oddly charming and seemingly nonthreatening. However, his relentless flirting and immediate marriage proposal put her off completely. He told her of his story, being a former Knight and all, and she was convinced he was lying to her as a ploy to hand Laz off to Ambrose. Once she realized how badly he treated Laz, how he treated everyone else at Golden Sun or the Hearth, she couldn’t listen to anything he could say, no matter how right he was or if he was telling the truth.
Scout
She likes Scout, but Scout definitely doesn't like her. Or rather, she just doesn't trust her, or any knight really. Celeste offers what she can to help her only to get the middle finger in response. Celeste is endlessly patient with Scout, however, and will never fault her for being resistant. She's a good kid.
