Pages in this section will have elements of body horror, violence, & religious themes. This page is also a WIP but also purposefully leaving out heavier lore like character deaths.
Polarity Skies, also known as the Celesteverse, is a story about interdimensional semi-immortal beings, the surprisingly mortal emotions that drive them, and the end of the world. It’s my self-indulgent love letter to all the anime I’ve watched and how it’s influenced my taste in stories, plus my love for horror creatures, monsters, and furries wrapped into one big bow. It's my current hyperfixation and major "project", so to speak. Though it has a tight story, I welcome with open arms anyone who wants to make OCs for the general Celesteverse!

Story
This section is a shortened summary. For full story, see story arcs page.
Celeste Aurelia is a woman by the alias of the Starlight Angel Knight, a warrior blessed by the Goddess Elysia to fight demons and other monsters that threaten the world. Lazarus is a man carrying the burden of being the demonic catalyst for the apocalypse by force nicknamed the Vessel of Rapture. Celeste was tasked to find and eliminate this Vessel, but instead ends up befriending him instead as he wants nothing more than to be free from the clutches of his captor Ambrose. What follows is Celeste’s understanding of the world being turned on its head, secrets of the universe being revealed, and a power struggle for the mortal realm with the fate of it all resting in her hands.
It all starts when Celeste and Laz meet in Cloud City, Laz recently escaped from Ambrose and currently looking for Scout, a young girl who he took with her on his escape. Unbeknownst to Celeste that he was her target, they become fast friends as she agrees to help find Scout. When they are reunited, Scout warns him that Ambrose sent someone after him. He tells Celeste the truth of what he is, and asks her to help him and she promises she'll protect him. She then has to fight Rosella, hired by Ambrose, in order to protect Laz. After defeating Rosella, she reluctantly agrees to keep Laz safe as long as Celeste agrees to release Rosella's father who was being held captive by the Knights after they defeat Ambrose. They then devise a plan to figure out how to take Ambrose down once and for all. Celeste gathers her fellow knights Juliette and Lafayette.
On their way they end up meeting many of those allied with Ambrose including the Executives, his most powerful subjects. They first encounter Wesley, and have to take down his computer network that has been collecting Life Cores in order to make Ambrose stronger. Upon his defeat, they gain a new ally in Flash. He gives them a lead to more help and it then leads them to Krystal and Takeshi, two individuals that might have the key to defeat Ambrose, but the Executive Sylvain stands in their way, as he has an important book on cosmic magic that he refuses to give up. He explains to Celeste that Elysia isn't the virtuous protector of Earth she claims to be, and exposes secrets about her. He tells her the only way to save the world is to have Ambrose, Laz, and even Elysia destroyed. Refusing to cooperate, Sylvain successfully kidnaps Laz and keeps him hostage, but Celeste isn't strong enough to defeat him.
After a short timeskip, Celeste and friends hatch a plan in order to defeat Ambrose once and for all, but Celeste ends up having to figure out who and what she's fighting for and who to protect.

Elysia & The Angel Knights
Not long after Elysia ascended to become Earth’s guardian, her presence was immediately noticed by the people of the world, as she granted prosperity, wealth, and freedom after the previous guardian had reigned centuries of terror upon the mortals. While she started off making big changes, gradually her efforts were made into more subtle changes here and there. Over time she grew tired of this power, and thus her work and miracles were less and less apparent. Over the last thousand years she has hardly ever shown any presence of any of her powers, much less herself, leaving an air of mystery around her, as some even doubt she existed in the first place. Because of this, people tend to have differing views on where she came from in the first place. Some believe she was there to create the Earth itself, hence her name of the Goddess of Creation. Others are certain she was a deity that was sent to protect the Earth after it was being torn by other gods. The modern-day Elysian enthusiasts still worship her strongly despite her lack of appearance, hoping to summon her presence by prayer and offerings. Some more radical Elysians will opt for sacrifices, but they are generally shunned. While the numbers are slowly dwindling over the course of a century as modern mindsets reject more traditional religious practices, their passion shines through their lower numbers. The Angel Knights are not a part of Elysian lore as she has purposefully kept them under wraps, though witnesses of the Knights have called them Guardians of Elysia.
The Angel Knights
After Elysia’s separation from Ambrose, she created the Angel Knights in order to drive him out of Earth to regain control on her own. There are thousands of Angel Knights under Elysia’s command, though only her strongest and most dedicated knights are given unique titles, and are often paired together thematically (e.g. Sunlight, Moonlight, and Starlight, or Gold and Silver). They are chosen by her when they meet an untimely death, where she decides their life core energy is strong enough to serve her. What the Knights don't realize, however, is more often than not, Elysia finds the individuals with the strongest energy forces and purposefully "ends their life" in order to recruit them into her army. When a Knight is chosen, she tells them they had died tragically but she saved them in order to give them a second chance. She grants them a wish they had and provides it for them, in exchange they "trade" energy, where Elysia gives them some of her powers in exchange for their life cores. In essence, this makes these Knights semi-immortal and therefore cannot age. They are given their weapon of choice after training, and these weapons range from swords, to battleaxes, daggers, and even firearms that shoot waves of energy.
Flower Children
A stricter subsection of the wider Elysian following, the Flower Children are a small group centralized mostly within Cloud City and the surrounding area, but have picked up members from all over the world. Its members are told they will be saved by the purity and love of Elysia, and are best known for their heavy flower imagery, to the point where members who join are first tasked to change their names to a type of flower, or have a flower somewhere in the name. They are given these names as a show of “community”, as they wish the Earth to be “a beautiful flower meadow” for their goddess and live in harmony. Rosella’s mother, Desdemona, was a former criminal and delinquent young woman taken in by the cult after she had nowhere to go, newly pregnant with her first child. Taken in by the Flower Children, she soon changed her name to Tulip. Rosella was born into this cult and lived the first few years of her life with the flower children before running away after her mother was sacrificed.
Ambrose & The Hearth
Ambrose’s cult, mainly started in response to his falling out with Elysia. He started it, disguising himself as a mortal in order to get influence with the mortals while also stealing their life forces in order to gain stronger. He knew he would have a better shot at taking her down from the inside if he had gotten the mortals to denounce her. He gives his most dedicated acolytes powers, and are often referred to as ‘demons’ by Elysia and the Knights. Unlike the Knights, Ambrose’s acolytes are not given any uniform or any specific weapon, and he often just gives them whatever they so desire in exchange for working for him. He often targets those down on their luck, desperate, and willing to sacrifice themselves or those that are insecure looking to gain power. Though many of them are very dedicated, very few have true belief in Ambrose, and of those few many have defected. Ambrose also has put some of his strongest powers as that he calls the Vessels, treating them more as weapons rather than acolytes, and keeps them more isolated from the rest of the Hearth’s members. Lazarus is Ambrose’s ace in the hole, the Vessel of Rapture, hoping to unleash his ultimate form like a demonic nuke in order to kill Elysia, the knights, and the entire rest of the world and creating one of his own. Though Ambrose keeps this a secret to anyone outside his main circle, and touts the lie that Elysia is in fact going to cause the end of the world herself.
The Executives
The strongest and most dedicated acolytes of the Hearth are given extra powers both literally and within the rankings of the Hearth, known as the Executives. Ambrose carefully chose Sylvain, Wesley, and Lyra as they all three had shown to be useful assets to the cause. Sylvain, known as the Golden Commander, handles more of the business side of things, having his company the Golden Sun residing in Aurora Gate. They handle the selling of life cores with other shady businesses, including Dollhouse Inc, a company owned by Krystal's father. Sylvain also provides Ambrose with tactical information of the Angel Knights as he was once part of them. Wesley is known as the System Administrator, he has developed the AURANET, a new technology of interconnected networks on-line in order to get more people to quite literally sell their souls to the Hearth. Lyra is known by her self-appointed title Lady Umbra, and she has protected the compound of the Hearth via her army of shadows. She keeps watch of the compound and city of Timber Valley like an iron fortress.
The Thibodeaux Clan
A group of demons and mortals led by Antoine “Papa” Thibodeaux. While he gives them the freedom to do what they like, most are contracted mercenaries. Antoine himself is a demon trying to achieve as many souls as he can to achieve immortality, and while he has no problem killing mortals, he has a strict moral code with his family. He loves his family, each member being an adopted “child” of his, and will fight to protect them. Antoine’s home, a seemingly small cabin in the woods, has a large underground base including a bunker (he is a doomsday prepper). The younger members of the clan live here until they are old enough to live on their own, but he also lets them wander and do what they want. Antoine has a very hands-off approach to parenting, but he makes sure each member is fed and taken care of. Rosella is the first (but not the oldest) member, having been adopted by Antoine when she was 5 after she stumbled on is cabin. Vinny joined shortly after, and the clan since has amassed dozens of members, all of various ages, some seemingly old enough to be Antoine’s physical age. No one quite knows how old Antoine himself is. While he had never told anyone to call him “dad” or “papa” or any variation, it seemed to stick when Rosella first referred to him as such. They have allied with the Midnight Arcade, and have been contracted by the Hearth as well
The Midnight Arcade
A mercenary group that has helped mortals with their issues with demons, demons their issues with the knights, and anyone that just needs help and has the cash. Though mostly made up of criminals themselves, they use vigilantism to do what they can. Neutral on either side, they have fought both Angel Knights and Ambrose’s demons to whichever bidder hires them for their services. The Midnight Arcade was led by Flash, a man that originally grew up in The Iron Pit, but was since wiped out by Wesley. Now only Flash and another demon man named Takeshi are the only remaining members.
Setting
Polarity Skies takes place in a world not unlike our own also called Earth. While not completely 1:1, it is very similar in most regards. Countries and cities are different, though parallels can be drawn to its real world counterpart. The main setting in Polarity Skies is mainly in their equivalent of North America, but it is much different than the actual North America we know. Its current modern era is defined mostly by late 1990s - early 2000s technology.
The main denizens of the world are entirely anthropomorphic animals, and mainly the fur type mammalians. Distinct species aren’t much of a thing, and are more so defined by family or genus such as canids, felids, ermines, lagomorphs, etc. Mixed species are common. Many can have the appearance of certain species, such as Sylvain’s fur patterns resembling a snow leopard, but there is no distinction between him and Celeste, as they are both categorized as Felids. Fur and hair color can vary, many have hair that match their ear color, and some have multicolor fur. Mortal furs generally have more realistic fur colors.
Fur people also don't have specific dietary restrictions based on their species. They are more people than they are animals so "animal food chain dynamics" like in our world don't really apply to this world. They also don't have animalistic tendencies other than things like tail wagging and ears folding and perking up in expressions, and purring for more cat-like furs.
Non-sapient animals still exist in the world but it is mainly fish, birds, and typical livestock. Pets aren't much of a thing in this world, either.
Locations
Polarity Skies takes place in multiple locations.
Cloud City - A breezy city and much like its name, fluffy clouds tend to litter the sky at all times. Its varied, distinct seasons are popular with tourists, though its chillier winters keep the city from being too popular. Bustling but humble, with folks of all kinds coming to live here. Cloud City has a lively downtown, with suburbs on the flatter regions of the city. Rests next to a large freshwater lake. Rosella was born and raised here. Cloud City is also where the story begins.
Cerulean Springs - An enormous, sprawling city on the ocean several hundred miles west of Cloud City. Its warm, subtropic climate and white sandy beaches has attracted many and has become a hub for entertainment and tourism. The second arc begins here.
The Iron Abyss - An underground city, originally a prison, set deep underneath the surface of Cerulean Springs. With its tightly-packed rusty metal shacks and lack of resources, the denizens of the Iron Abyss were impoverished, with their only source of income being at the Factory, where hard labor was used to power the city of Cerulean Springs. It was eventually abandoned after a massive flood destroyed the city. After Wesley took over the city, he has took over the Factory in order to work for the Hearth. The second arc mainly takes place here.
Aurora Gate - One of the biggest cities in the country, Aurora Gate is a hub of industry and home of the rich and elite. What makes Aurora Gate unique is its tightly packed buildings, endlessly busy streets, and impossibly tall towers that reach the clouds above. Sylvain runs his business, Golden Sun Industries, in Aurora Gate in the illustrious Golden Sun tower. The third arc takes place mainly in Aurora Gate.
Timber Valley - A small town nestled between the mountains in the far north. It takes a special road to reach the town, as it is never shown on maps. Once unassuming, Ambrose has recently used the town to create the Hearth’s main compound. The fourth and part of the final arc takes place here.
Glossary
This will likely get its own page if it gets too long.
Life Cores
In essence, a soul. They dissipate permanently when someone dies, but the process takes a while, so if someone were to be revived quickly enough, they can have their core restored. Beings can exist without Life Cores, as the Knights and Ambrose's acolytes are missing theirs, but are replaced with a cosmic being's energy. A regular mortal without a life core can exist, but they tend to be more zombie-like depending on the strength of their energy. Cosmic Beings collect them in order to ascend to higher dimensions and gain power as they have more concentrated energy within them.
Cosmic Beings
Also referred as Dimensionals, they are multidimensional creatures with immense power. that don't typically have a corporeal form, and when they do, its often a massive incomprehensible monster. They can manifest themselves as lesser dimensions' beings, however. They are able to harness the power of Life Cores, being able to absorb their power in order to become stronger. It is possible for a mortal to become a Cosmic Being, but it's an ancient practice lost to time, and the success rate of becoming one is near 0%. Elysia is the only person in recent times to have successfully become one. Ambrose, on the other hand, has always been a Cosmic Being and was not from Earth. Dimensionals in the past have been referred to as deities, including Elysia herself.
Energy
Every life force has it from plants to people. Energy can be harnessed by using ancient magic practices, or be given powers by a Cosmic Being. Energy can be charged, depleted, given to others, used to fight, etc. Different people posess different energy levels.
Angel/Demon
Functionally the same. Beings whose Life Cores were given to completely or promised to either Elysia or Ambrose and given power in exchange for working for them. Their alliance alone defines what they are. They do not have horns, wings, nor halos, and appear as any other mortal, though will often have unusual colored hair like Celeste. They are also semi-immortal, and cannot die to age, but can be killed. They often have special and unique abilities as well as overall increase in strength. They often have alternate, more monstrous forms.
Dark Magic & The Cosmic Tomes
A way that mortals can harness their own energy without the help of a cosmic being. They are also being able to manipulate others' energies. An ancient practice lost to time, the Cosmic Tomes are ancient books written about how to work this magic and was used by Elysia in order to become a dimensional and defeat past guardians of earth. Since then, all copies of the book have seemingly disappeared instead of a small few.
Trivia
- My dear friend Marsh helped pick the name of the story! This was in the story's early works, so it might change in the future.
- The Celesteverse characters also exist in Breckenridge! Angel Knights and such do not exist in Breckenridge, though. They exist mainly as random denizens of the world, though Celeste and Laz themselves are actors. Flash makes a more important role in Breckenridge as Grey's speedrunning video game rival.
- Originally, the story was focused mainly on Laz and Celeste forming a romantic relationship with more typical angel and demon imagery and themes, but it since devolved to ...this. Ironically enough, they don't really get together anymore.
- Somehow, a "sequel series" exists in my head. I like to call it Polarity Skies Z as a joke. It takes place 15 years after the events of the finale. There isn't much, though, other than a handful of ideas and it's more of a fun what-if scenario rather than a canon, intended sequel.
- There's so much I cannot possibly fit it all in here.

I draw these guys a LOT. Unfortunately I do not have the time to put all of their images here, and I'm trying to work on a way to get a functioning lightbox gallery for easier image access. For now, take a few of these images :]
