Appearance

Lyra
Lyra key art.

Lyra is a leporidae furry standing at 5'2". Her hair is short, with long choppy bangs and the ends of her hair spiking out in all directions just above shoulder height. The main color of her hair is a stark firey orange, with her right (our left) section of bangs being all black. Her fur color is a light orange. The innards of her ears and mouth are a dark blue. The ears themselves are long and tall, much like rabbit ears. She has a small rabbit tail the same orange color with a pale yellow underside. Her eyes are a dark blue, and she wears heavy eye makeup and it is often smudged. Her body type is petite and skinny, without visible curves.

Her outfit is a mashup of two dresses. The top is black with a funnel style collar with long horizontal yellow fastenings in the middle of her torso. Her right arm has a blue/darker blue vertical striped sleeve with a orange belt-like fastening on the end, and wears a black glove. Her left arm is sleeveless save for a section starting on her forearm, a black flared bell sleeve torn at the edges with a similar stitching pattern as her top. The skirt is composed of two different sections. One half is black, and much like her sleeve, is wide and torn at the bottom with yellow fastenings. The other half is a dark blueish purple pleated skirt with vertical stripes. Her right leg is much like her right sleeve where she is wearing a blue and darker blue vertical striped pant legging and a black boot with yellow fastenings. Her left leg is without leggings, and has a orange belt resting right above her boot, which is a blue color. Both boots are heeled and are just below knee height.

Her main sense of style is 2000s emo or mall goth style and will often accessorize and mishmash clashing outfits together. Her main sense of colors are mainly black, orange, and Halloween-adjacent colors.

Personality

Lyra, though she'd like to describe herself as playful and fun unlike everyone else, is seen more as childish and exasperating to others around her. She's loud, crass, and a little too intense with her emotions—she's often screaming about or to someone or something, laughing maniacally at nothing, or she's shedding crocodile tears in order to get pity. Unable to handle her emotions well, most people avoid interacting with her entirely as she will lash out at others regardless of anyone's intention. Lyra's behavior often causes her to self-isolate, which in turn has made her very lonely. According to her, she has "strange" interests and feelings that people just won't understand, so she would much rather be alone than be misunderstood and judged by others — though she isn't aware of her own hypocrisy as she judges others quite harshly herself, writing off people as normies or basic.

To those she does like, she is unhealthily attached to. Lyra will often still bully those she likes, but will often beg and ask if they will stay with her. She often has a lack of a boundary with others. Unsure of how to actually handle those that like her, she often will do anything she can to keep them at her side, even if it's detrimental to the other.

Her role as the Executive lets the power get to her head. Craving validation, she looks up to Ambrose like a father. However, like a spoiled child, she often resents him for not letting her get her way. That being said, she takes a lot of pride in her status, taking her job very seriously—though, she does like to play, and often gets off on the power trip she gets bossing other members of the Hearth around. She guards Timber Valley and the compound like an iron fortress, and is so dedicated to her job that she has not left the area in years.

Lyra likes candy, thrill rides, emo music, and Halloween. She dislikes sitting still, overly peppy people, the color pink, and coffee.

Story

Lyra
Lyra with her shadows, including Orion in a monster form. (2025)

Lyra was born into the Hearth, though not necessarily by choice. Lyra grew up in Timber Valley, a small town that has been associated with the Hearth for years. All of the town's residents are friendly with the Hearth, and the Hearth themselves were beneficial to the town often being the first to help when storms would come in and they'd help repair houses, help with local food drives, etc. Lyra wanted to help them as they helped her, and eventually through her volunteer work quickly met the higher ups. Lyra herself had known some magic of her own so Ambrose thought she'd make an excellent asset. Over time, Lyra became a dedicated acolyte and eventually by the time she was 19, became one of his Executives, in charge of keeping the Hearth safe from anyone trying to attack them.

Though she was important, Lyra always felt "different" from everyone. She was rejected by most of her friends growing up and was partially the reason she ran to the Hearth in the first place, but she still could not find much friendship. She then decided to use her new Shadow creation abilities to make friends of her own. Over time, she inteded to craft a more permanent Shadow, a real person she could connect with so she traded a large portion of her life energy onto this shadow and molded him after her tastes and created Orion. Orion himself was a lot more intelligent and forward-thinking than her mobs of Shadow friends, and they quickly grew close because of it. Orion has since asked if he could be given a life core in order to be fully realized as a person rather than a Shadow, and Lyra has made it her goal to grant Orion's wish. Though, she tends to put it off because the more energy she's given him, the more unstable he seems to get, more independent and more aggressive and occasionally irrational. She fears he will "outgrow" her and reject her, so she keeps putting off life cores in order to keep him close.

During the fourth arc, she and Orion have to fight Celeste, trying to protect the compound from them. She receives a Life Core due to a major character dying, and she attempts to hide it from Orion despite it being an opportunity to make him fully realized as a person.

Abilities

Weapon

The Punisher

A giant sledgehammer. Lyra isn't one to handle combat herself, often opting for her army of Shadows to do the busy work for her, but if left alone she will use it when she can. Heavy and unforgiving, she uses this when she is in a full rage, swinging it violently and it packs a powerful punch.

Powers

She can conjure Shadow creatures using her energy. These shadows can manipulate light and others' shadows as well. They can manifest and shift into different forms, but by default they appear as cute ghost-like apparitions. Despite their ghostly appearance they still feel corporeal and can attack with claws and whatever else they can transform into. However, they are singularly easily defeated. Lyra can amass thousands at a time. The strongest Shadow she has is her best friend Orion, and is the most lucid out of all her shadows.

Relationships

Ambrose

She sees him like a father, though she doesn't particularly like him. She wants him to get out of her hair, and she often steals life cores that she was intending to take to him instead. She has her own goals in mind, and wants to take over the Hearth for herself. She's expressed this feeling often, but Ambrose immediately shuts her down. Lyra hates that he doesn't take her seriously, and she often feels like she's being dismissed as a child despite being one of their Executives and demands more respect.

Sylvain

She's extremely mean to him, but she also has a strange attachment to him. Likely because he's mean to her the least, but he expresses his annoyance with her very often. She's not unaware of his feelings, and it gives her all the more reason to push his buttons. She is unsure of her own feelings of him, whether or not it's a crush, but it's clear she enjoys hanging with him the most out of most of the Hearth's major players besides her own creations.

Wesley

She thinks he's gross and lame. Out of everyone in the Hearth, she feels like she could have had a connection to Wesley as they both were social outcasts, but he immediately dismissed her and called her a freak upon first meeting, so it soured any potential friendship she wanted to have. During Hearth meetings, she is purposefully interrupting him and shuts down anything he has to contribute. If anything, the two have a shared mutual hatred for each other, and often act like siblings bickering.

Orion

Her best friend, her only real friend. She's been trying very hard to get him an actual life core so he can finally be realized into a real person. He can be a bit of a yes man to her, but she made him herself so that is to be expected, though later on it seems like he began to develop a mind of his own, and she's unsure how to feel about it, almost scared as he can be extremely aggressive.

Celeste

When she meets Celeste, she is immediately annoyed by her presence, and instantly hates her. She does not realize she projects her insecurities onto Celeste, seeing as how Celeste has many friends that care about her and Lyra is lonlier than ever. However, she rejects Celeste's offer to not fight and to be friends, as she already made her decision and she knows Celeste just wouldn't understand.
